PROSTAR IS AWARDED KEY CANADIAN PATENT FOR SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR INTEGRATION AND CORRELATION OF GIS DATA
February 14, 2018 -
A Canadian Patent No. 2846173, prepared by Lewis Roca Rothgerber Christie LLP, one of nation's leading intellectual property law firms, has been granted. The patent covers a computer implemented method for calculating tolerance zones for utility assets. This method allows the user to receive data about an area related to a location of a utility asset within a region. The patented method helps to prevent damages to utilities and the environment during construction, maintenance and groundbreaking activities as well as severe conditions including weather, fires, and earthquakes.
"We are certainly excited to have played a significant role in the issuance of this Canadian patent for our client," said Raymond R. Tabandeh, the LRRC partner who prosecuted the patent. Damages to buried utilities during excavation is a major problem in the U.S. and Canada, and in almost every case, it is caused by a lack of quality information. The damage is typically the result of the operators of the heavy equipment being unaware and uninformed of the location and proximity of buried utility lines relative to their digging operations.
ProStar's Chief Executive Officer, Page Tucker stated, "We are delighted to see this key patent issued, as it covers protecting buried assets during groundbreaking activities using our precision GPS, Mobile and Cloud technologies." Today, ProStar's Geospatial Intelligent SolutionsT utilize patented technologies and processes to provide the most advanced mobile mapping systems in the world. "Now with our ClickBeforeYouDig® software, mission critical location information will be made available in real-time at the fingertips of field personnel including excavators, so that better business decisions are made," stated Mr. Tucker.

PROSTAR PUTS GRAND JUNCTION ON THE MAP AS PART OF SMART CITY ALLIANCE
December 10, 2017 -
Inside ProStar Geocorp's Horizon Drive headquarters, geospatial information specialists work with devices such as a Hololens, an augmented reality device that allows the user to explore the surroundings and interior of a space without leaving one's seat. It essentially gives the person X-ray vision.
Looking through one of these devices, one can see what's inside the wall or map items from outside and virtually bring them in the room with you. For ProStar it's a useful device for mapping what lies underneath the ground, including pipes, gas lines and electrical conduits, which is the company's specialty.
For some time, ProStar has been in business with oil pipeline companies, working on geospatial interface technology to locate underground pipes, but recently, ProStar aligned with the city of Grand Junction, the Colorado Department of Transportation and Colorado 811 to make the process of locating utilities more efficient.

GEOLOCATION, RFID COMPANIES SELLING SYSTEM FOR PIPE AND EQUIPMENT TRACKING
Sept 04, 2017 -
Grand Junction, CO - Colorado-based ProStar Geocorp has teamed up with its sister company, EchoRFID, to create an RFID-enabled solution to manage the locations and status of utility assets, such as pipes, drills and heavy equipment. The system combines ProStar's Transparent Earth geospatial locating platform, its GPS-based PointMan mobile app, and EchoRFID's read- and write-management solution, known as Pipe Talker. The two companies are currently in discussions with several oil and gas and utility businesses to begin piloting or deploying the holistic solution to manage the movements of pipeline materials to and around worksites, and to track them for maintenance purposes after each pipe piece is installed.
"People are used to finding the closest Starbucks," says Bill McIntyre, ProStar Geocorp's business development VP. "Our question was, 'Why can't you do that with pipes or conduit?''" The Transparent Earth system, he explains, stores location data and enables users of smartphones or GPS devices to record inventory or maintenance status information, using the PointMan app, and to save that data, along with their GPS-based location.

'SMART CITY' AMONG THE IDEAS TAKING SHAPE ALONG HORIZON DRIVE
August 06, 2017 -
Grand Junction, CO - Melding Grand Junction's geographic information system with the geospatial expertise of a Horizon Drive tech company could yield a "smart city" that operates more efficiently than less advanced towns and communities.
That's the take of Grand Junction City Manager Greg Caton and the head of Colorado 811, the statewide clearinghouse for all things underground. They've teamed up with Pro-Star Geocorp, a Grand Junction company working to provide clients with a three-dimensional look at the numerous networks of buried utilities.
ProStar Geocorp, headed by Page Tucker, "is just cutting edge," Caton said.
ProStar and city officials started with a program to streamline the process of locating utilities, a sometimes cumbersome process of finding electrical conduits, gas lines, cable-television lines and other utilities that might - or might not - be where they were supposed to have been placed.

PROSTAR GEOCORP ACHIEVES OPEN GEOSPATIAL CONSORTIUM (OGC) COMPLIANCE CERTIFICATIONS
January 29th, 2015 -
Grand Junction, CO - ProStar Geocorp announced today that it has successfully achieved Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) compliance certifications for its Open GIS, Transparent Earth®.
Other major GIS solutions traditionally offer a one-size-fits-all solution. They are costly, complex and offer poor accessibility. Transparent Earth is an open GIS, offering "GIS as a Service" GaaS® that inherently addresses these issues. By providing enterprise integration and interoperability, Transparent Earth is the first open GIS with a natively designed mobile application designed to meet the utility and pipeline industry's unique business processes and regulatory requirements.
Dan Colby, Senior VP of Geospatial Technologies for ProStar, said "We support OGC and as a result, our open GIS and mobile solution embraces OGS standards including Web Map Services (WMS), Web Feature Services (WFS), Web Coverage Services (WCS), Web Processing Services (WPS), Catalogue Service Implementation, Simple Feature Access for SQL, Geography Markup Language (GML) Encoding and Coordinate Transformation Services." ProStar's unique integration process enables a single conflated view of applicable data sources to be readily viewed by both office and field personnel. "As our technology and the OGC evolve, we will continue to add OGC certifications," said Colby. "Adopting OGC open standards allows our clients' enterprise systems and processes, which have traditionally been siloed, to become interoperable across all department platforms resulting in significantly improved efficiencies. Now, all relevant GIS, CAD and other enterprise data sources are geo-referenced and accessible from desktop and mobile devices."
